How to become a Member

You can support our valuable work by become a member of the SBPT.  A application form can be downloaded at the foot of this page.

Several times a year members have the chance to visit historic buildings that are not generally open to the public.  These buildings are normally in Somerset but, sometimes, we "venture" into neighbouring counties and usually include talks about the history of the property.   An autumn visit generally coincides with the Trust's Annual General Meeting, to which all members are welcome.  Normally a small charge is made to cover entrance fees, refreshments etc.  In addition members receive regular newsletters keeping them up to date with the Charity's projects.

The Merchant's House, Shepton Mallet

A glorious visit was to a magnificent Georgian House which was  a William Stansell/SBPT Building Award winning house in Shepton Mallet - a Merchant's House restored by and now lived in by John Maine and his wife:   we have also enjoyed a behind the scenes visit to Hestercombe Gardens, in 2015 members have had access to the old farmhouse at the Hauser and Wirth gallery in Bruton, enjoyed a hard hat tour of the Rural Life Museum, lunch at Ston Easton Park and a private visit to the Court House at Wookey.
